The fifties and sixties live again at the Tenterfield Golf Club on September 10 as a local fitness class dancing its way to cardiovascular health hosts a rock-and-roll dinner dance, and everyone’s welcome.
It promises to be a fun night with diners encouraged to dress in theme, with rewards for the most inventive. DJ Ross Vasta will be spinning music from a variety of genre so there’ll be something for everyone, even if they opt to watch from the sidelines. It’s for a good cause too, with proceeds going to help native wildlife that may be orphaned or injured and require ongoing care.
The night includes a two course dinner ($45), or just come along for the dancing ($10 prebooked, or $15 at the door). Tickets can be purchased at the Kitchen Garden Cafe in Tenterfield or by calling Phyllus Jones on (02) 6737 5558.
If it’s been a while since you jived or twisted, there’s still time to brush up on the old moves and learn a few new ones at the weekly lessons held each Saturday from 2pm at Karen Well's new studio at 141 Wood St.
While there have been a few stayhards at the lessons, Mrs Jones said some may be concerned they won’t recall the steps they’ve learnt, but there’s nothing to fear.
“We always rehash what we’ve already learned, and then add some new stuff,” Mrs Jones said.
