Three councillors moved and spoke in favour of the motion to disclose the funding. The Mayor twice called for speakers against and not one rose to the challenge. At this point a reasonable conclusion would be that the motion would pass. When the motion was put it was lost six votes against with three in favour. What evidence did the councillors use to conclude that they vote against the motion? It appears that the decision to vote against the motion was made outside the chamber or were they mind readers?
I am sure that we can have reconciliation and move on if there is disclosure. My concern is that unless we understand and learn from our history which is needed for reconciliation, we risk history repeating itself and continue making mistakes.
