Mingoola community worker Julia Harpham is gauging interest in having an on-site TAFE course in chainsaw and brushcutter operation. She said accredited training for those involved in the activity is important for workplace health and safety reasons, and for workers compensation in the event of an accident.

MP Thomas George has indicated he is prepared to approach TAFE on the community’s behalf if he receives a formal letter of request from the Mingoola Progress Association. To that end, an indication of numbers of people keen to do the course would support a strong case for it, so anyone interested is asked to contact Mrs Harpham on (02) 6737 5227.
