Long term Woodenbong residents Patricia and Russell Small – who were married at Saint Colman’s Church, Kyogle, on January 5 1957 – recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at the Woodenbong Golf Club with a luncheon.

The happy couple were joined by their immediate family: daughter Rosslyn Johnson, sons Anthony, Michael, Carl and Kieran and their partners, children and grandchildren along with members of their original bridal party, locals and many guests some whom had travelled long distances which included Brisbane, Gatton, Gold Coast, Lismore, Casino.
Russell spent most of this childhood in Woodenbong and after their fruitful union he and Patricia have resided in Woodenbong since and which filled their lives with five children, 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchilden.
After lunch, the cake was cut and speeches concluded, the 85 family and friends enjoyed music supplied by the three-piece Teunis family band called ‘Moonshine’ while having the opportunity to peruse the display of albums of photos of their 50th wedding anniversary and original wedding day.
In recognition of this special occasion was an Apostolic Blessing from Pope Francis which was displayed in pride of place. Patricia and Russell were very touched to have been honoured by this significant action.
With many thanks to all the wonderful Woodenbong Golf Club volunteers who assisted family and friends who helped to ensure this day went so smoothly.
