Phase 1 consisted of community engagement forums (Listening Posts) at all villages and in Tenterfield itself, a mail-out of postcards to all residents, and a dedicated website inviting users to take a quick poll, provide ideas or post pictures. The Listening Post forums and postcards were embraced by the community with 190 postcards being returned from which 1101 comments were retrieved. The website statistics indicated a high level of interest (2405 visitors), although unfortunately not a high level of participation (34). This feedback has now been incorporated with council’s previous Community Strategic Plan to produce the new plan.
A new Asset Management Strategy is being constructed to reflect the revised Community Strategic Plan, together with a new Long Term Financial Plan and Workforce Management Strategy to provide the “how” for the actions sought by the community.
These draft documents are now on public exhibition, and Phase 2 of the community workshops will begin with hour-long sessions at the local community hall in these locations: Jennings (March 6 at Wallangarra Hall 5pm), Mingoola (March 7 at 5.30pm), Legume (March 8 at 5pm), Tenterfield (March 9 at 9.30am and March 15 at 5.30pm, at RSL Pavilion rear of Memorial Hall), Liston (March 13 at 5pm), Drake (March 14 at 5pm), Urbenville (March 16 at 5pm) and Torrington (March 17 at 10.30am).
