The project is a reminder that WWI was a series of battles from 1914 to 1918.
While Gallipoli has been the focus for commemorative events, many more soldiers died on the Western Front.
This is part of the Tenterfield Shire’s memorial to the service men and women who enlisted in WW1.
The names of those participants who were born, enlisted or associated with the shire are being compiled into an accessible form on the council website and on stand-alone computers.
The names of other soldiers from the shire who died will be published in this space during the centennial week of their demise.
Misspelt names, nickname, transcription errors and changed shire boundaries have made the process challenging. Care has been taken to be accurate and inclusive when compiling this list.
Memorabilia – including photographs and stories – will be included on the website enabling readers to share details of person mentioned.
Please contact the Tenterfield Shire Council with the information if you consider any adjustments or additions.
