Tigers coach Brendan Minns is anticipating Killarney to be quite strong.
“It’s always a tough and physical game against them,” Minns said.
Being the first hit-out for the season, it will be a test of players’ fitness and skill levels and how well they fit into the side, he said.
While there are four or five players who can’t participate in this weekend’s game – leaving a lean team of 17 players – Minns said player numbers are relatively good generally.
He expects to have a full squad for the next weekend for the Tigers’ first home game against Stanthorpe.
He said with only four teams in the competition it’s imperative to start off the season with a win, as the minor premiers go straight through to the grand final.
“We only get one crack at it, so every two points are crucial.”
