Matters discussed there remain confidential although the councillors contend they relate to ’some very contentious issues’ regarding the selection process for senior staff.
Cr Petty moved to quell rumours circulating though the community regarding the general manager position, issuing a memo to councillors and staff advising that Damien Connor is on sick leave as of Thursday, May 11 to be followed by a period of annual leave and sick leave to Tuesday, July 4. He advised that David Walker has been appointed interim chief executive from Monday, May 22 for the duration. He also welcomed Kylie Smith in the role of chief corporate officer and Andre Kompler as chief operating officer, saying “Council is extremely fortunate to have gained the services of these qualified and experienced officers.”
