Established 25 years ago, they aim to breed quality, quiet, easy-doing cattle for grass fed markets.
Bonny Brooke Angus bulls produce versatile offspring, ideal for weaner producers, those who sell to feedlots and producers who fatten their commercial cattle on grass.
For many years the stud’s progeny has received accolades in carcase competitions and won eating quality awards at Royal Shows and MSA Carcase Competitions. Most recently, their consistent MSA carcase results have sparked interest amongst breeders.
At the 2017 Wingham Beef Week, exhibitors AN Goodman and D and D McKinnon took out the supreme champion carcase with their pure bred Bonny Brooke Angus steer, beating in excess of 150 head for the title with a score of 91.962.
Alan Scrivener, owner of AJ and M Scrivener commercial herd, has taken out a number of awards, including several at the 2017 Wingham Beef Exports MSA Branded Beef Challenge with progeny from cattle he purchased from the Bonny Brooke Stud. This included the highest combined average MSA Index of 64.578, and the highest MSA Index for an individual carcase of 67.18
