Whilst Stanthorpe City has not had much success during the season, they are a team that always displays enthusiasm and determination.
The Thunder were quick off the mark and found the net in the early minutes of the game through striker Murraya Horan. A good build up play by the midfield saw the ball passed in from out wide which was then tapped in from close range. Tenterfield continued to pressure City’s backline throughout the half but were unfortunate not to go further ahead before the break.
Over the season, the players have become accustomed to playing certain positions. This game provided an opportunity to reshuffle some players as a trial for the fast approaching semi-finals.
Emily Ryan played an excellent game on the left wing creating plenty of scoring opportunities during the start of the second half. Bianca Melling was moved into a more central position where she challenged hard to keep possession of the ball. These positional changes allowed the Thunder to capitalise further when some good combinations allowed Alana Condrick to make a superb run and slot the ball into the bottom corner.
The third and final goal was again created by a speedy run by Condrick who unselfishly made a square pass to Horan which was then accidentally kicked by a City defender into her own net.
Another great performance from the Thunder Ladies who now take on Stanthorpe United in a must-win contest to consolidate second position on the ladder.
