It’s time to dust off the billy carts and head up the highway for the Ballandean Billy Cart Bash again, this year on Sunday, September 10.
There's a V8 Supercar Hot Lap up for grabs, so if you can fashion a contraption out of an old baby’s bath, a few wheels and a stick you too could be in the running.
Entries for the Bash are now open, closing Wednesday, September 6, at a cost of $15. Late entries may be accepted right up to the day, depending on spaces, but will then cost $25. Find entry forms at ballandeanbash.com.au.
Drivers aged from 5-99 are welcome, but your contraption will have to pass scrutineering conducted between 8am and 9.30am on the day. Racing starts straight after that.
There are cash prizes for age categories as well as trophies for the Pharaoh’s Cup (between school principals), Interschool Challenge and best race outfit.
The reward for the open category is the aforementioned V8 Supercar Hot Lap experience, thanks to Sirromet Wines and the Holden Performance Driving Centre.
If you’re more a spectator than a racer, the Bash is a great day out with lots of refreshments on tap and stalls to check out. There will be home-cooked food, fresh coffee, Billy Cart Bash merchandise, a jumping castle, face painting and more onsite throughout the day, all in the shadow of the Ballandean Pyramid on Jacobsens Rd. Park onsite for a gold coin donation.
Some stall sites are still available if you’re keen to be part of the action.
