Tenterfield is receiving $1.48 million of the total $16.7 million coming to the New England electorate in Roads to Recovery funding announced in the federal budget, deputy prime minister and member for New England Barnaby Joyce has announced.

Mr Joyce said the upgrades and improvements would facilitate the movement of goods via the road network creating a stronger local economy for residents.
“I’m particularly pleased with the funding commitment for Roads to Recovery, which is a critical programme that local councils rely on to improve and maintain urban and rural road networks,” Mr Joyce said.
Tenterfield Shire Council’s acting chief executive officer Andre Kompler said council values the ongoing commitment of the Federal Government with the Roads to Recovery program, which will in this financial year go towards:
Gravel Road Resheeting
- $225,000 to be used on Castelrag Rd, Graham’s Ck Rd, White Swamp Rd, Bruxner Rd, Paddy’s Flat Rd, Woodside Rd, Mt Clunie Rd and Beaury Ck Rd.
Bridges
- $319,000 has been allocated to Emu Creek bridge replacement on Hootens Road which services agriculture like the blueberry farm. (Council is also sourcing additional funding through the current round of NSW Fixing Country Roads grant funding program.)
- $700,000 for timber bridge repairs: replacing a bridge on Silent Grove Road and Wallaroo Range Road, major component timber repairs to Boorook Road (Boorook Creek), Cheviot Hills Road (Fairfield Creek), Graham’s Creek Road (Graham’s Creek), Mt Lindesay Road (Boonoo Boonoo Creek), Mole River Road (Tablelands Creek), Paddy’s Flat Road (Unnamed Creek), Paddy’s Flat Road North (Kangaroo Creek), Tooloom Road (Beaury Creek) and White Swamp Road (Woodenbong Creek).
Reseals
- $163,000 towards maintaining existing sealed road assets and renewing existing seals on sections of Barney Downs Road, Black Swamp Road, Timbarra Road and Douglas Street.
Footpaths
- $73,000 for extension of the Scott Street shared pathway. (Matching funding for this project is being provided by a NSW government Active Transport grant.)
Roads to Recovery allocations to other councils are Armidale Regional Council ($2.16 million), Glen Innes Severn Council ($1.2 million), Gwydir Shire Council ($1.77 million), Inverell Shire Council ($1.8 million), Liverpool Plains Shire Council ($1.2 million), Tamworth Regional Council ($3.6 million), Tenterfield Shire Council ($1.4 million), Upper Hunter Shire Council ($1.7 million), Uralla Shire Council ($859,565) and Walcha Council ($814,440).
