Saturday's warm conditions at CF White Oval were ideal for the impending tussle. The possession and field position was fairly even in the first half with both teams trying to control the midfield.
Through some good build-up play, Tenterfield's Murraya Horan had a couple of good one on one chances with the United keeper but could not convert. She did eventually give Tenterfield the lead midway in the half, after receiving a wide pass and guiding the shot into the net.
At the other end, United had one good shot on target that sailed over the crossbar.
Trailing 1-0 at the break, Stanthorpe United's youth and determination was evident early, as they changed their formation to press harder into Tenterfield's end. Some dangerous corners and fast breaks were broken down by some good scrambling from the Thunder's keeper and backline.
At the other end, Tenterfield had a couple of scoring opportunities with runs from Alana Condrick. With three minutes before the final whistle, Horan put the match out of reach with a body sliding shot just in front of the United keeper. Final score: Tenterfield 2 - United 0.
