While major redesign works to improve safety at the New England Highway intersection with Bruxner Way and Old Ballandean Road remain a pipedream at this stage, Roads and Maritime Services continues to allocate resources to the dangerous crossroads.
Following on from the recent $90,000 installation of warning lights for highway drivers when a vehicle approaches on a side road, a further $170,000 has been allocated to the troublespot, MP Thomas George’s office advised.
The intersection will now be modified to include turning lanes and new line marking to increase sight distance for motorists turning onto the highway.
A RMS spokesperson said the road will be also be resurfaced to improve safety for motorists.
“The community will be kept informed as plans progress,” he said.
