Haven’t used it since you thought of contributing it to last year’s Garage Sale Trail? Then it’s definitely a candidate to go to a better home at this year’s trail, now a weekend-long event on October 21-22.

Garage Sale Trail, the community campaign powered by local councils, is back again. Households, community groups, charities, local businesses and schools in the Tenterfield Shire are encouraged to join an estimated 350,000-plus Australians as a part of the seventh annual national Garage Sale Trail.
Aimed at bringing communities together and promoting reuse, Garage Sale Trail is powered by more than 150 local councils. In 2017 has set two major national goals: to see two million items listed for reuse on one big weekend of garage sales across the country, and to enable 120,000 new neighbourly connections Australia-wide over the weekend long event
Mayor Peter Petty has welcomed the involvement of the Tenterfield Shire Council and the opportunity to promote reuse and community building in a fun and creative way.
“Tenterfield Shire is proud to be actively involved in bringing this national initiative to our residents,” he said.
“Garage Sale Trail helps people to think about how we can all take responsibility for the waste we create. Items that are reused don’t end up in council collections or in landfill.
“It’s also a simple way for people to meet and talk to people in their community as well as fundraise.”
The initiative is run by Australian not-for-profit Garage Sale Trail Foundation. To register a garage sale or see what’s for sale in the local area at www.garagesaletrail.com.au.
The Men’s Shed has already registered its slot, on Saturday, October 21 from 9am to 3pm. Individual households and community groups are encouraged to join them to make a weekend of it.
