Born and bred in Kyogle, Ms Murray was a journalist for 30 years originally at the Stanthorpe Border Post before working at papers around the Southern Highlands and at Mudgee. She’s accustomed to seeing country shows through a camera lens, and is looking forward to being involved on the other side of the show ring fence.
It was only her second day in the job when the Star caught up with her, and she said she’s still busy meeting people.
“I’m getting a crash course in who’s who in Tenterfield,” she said.
Ms Murray had always wanted to be more directly involved in show societies, but was always too busy with her work.
“The opportunity came up, I had the time, and it’s a chance to learn another town and new skills,” she said.
From what she’s seen she said the Show Society appears to be in good hands, with a very competent committee.
“I’m looking forward to meeting everybody and finding out more about how the show works.”
As before, the Show Society office will be manned each Wednesday where Ms Murray can be reached on (02) 6736 1464 or email tentshow@halenet.com.au.
Mrs Rhodes will remain for the next few weeks bringing her replacement up to speed. She said she had to vacate the position after 2.5 years due to other commitments, but remains a member of the society and will be around to support Ms Murray wholeheartedly.
