The book of choice for each class was: Home in the Rain (KR), Garry – A story about a funny pigeon (K/1D), Go Home Cheeky Animals (1/2G), Nannie Loves (1/2F), Amazing Animals of Australia’s National Parks (3/4T), Patchwork Bike (3/4H), A-Z of Endangered Animals (4/5W), The Snow Wombat (5/6R), Rock Hopping (5/6W) and Fabish (K/6S).
The school’s main corridor was a major winner with each class painting a beautiful canvas about their book. These canvases are on display for parents to view at the next school assembly which will be on Thursday, September 21, at noon.
The children’s parents, carers, brothers and sisters did a fantastic job dressing all of the children for school on Wednesday. The children enjoyed walking down from the school and along the main street with many business owners coming out, cheering and encouraging them on their way.
“It was inspiring to see so many parents that took the time out to come and watch the parade, and applaud the children and teachers,” principal Anna Starcevic said.
“It was a great day.”
Each class teacher presented a copy of the book they read to the best dressed/in-theme child on the day, to take home to enjoy with their whole family.
Prior to going on the town walk, the children were presented with a waterhole wonderland and treasure hunt by author and past student Susan Springborg.
Ms Springborg presented the school with two copies of her newest book The Waterhole - The Water Sprites Learn a Lesson.
Emily from Year 4/5 W told me that her favourite thing about the day was dressing up, but she enjoyed the part in the waterhole book when Miss Sherry teaches the sprites how to get across the bridge without annoying Crack the troll.
Kira, also from 4/5 W, said her favourite part was finding the gold coin on the treasure hunt She said she had already read the book because Ms Springborg had given her Nan at Millrace a copy, and Kirra had the chance to read it with her Nanny. Her favourite part of the book was when they were searching for Crack the Troll.
Copies of the The Waterhole are available from the school office for $16.
