It’s become a bit of a feature of the spring calendar each year, when local ladies take a ‘personal day’ and enjoy some pampering while they peruse what they could be wearing to the next Deepwater Races and other events.

The popular Deepwater Hall Trust spring fashion parade is on again on Sunday, September 24 at the Deepwater Hall of course.
The outing is hosted by the Hall Trust committee each year to raise much-needed funds for hall improvements, and this year the proceeds are going towards heating of the premises.
The worthy cause is just icing on the cake for the regulars who have been enjoying the annual event now for 10 years. With champagne and ‘heavenly high tea’ on the menu and spring fashions from Carol Campbell’s Simply Country on the runway along with dance performances, it’s a fun, relaxing afternoon in good company.
Along with the action on stage there will be a variety of stalls including patchwork, jewellery, plants and local art.
Trust committee member Mary Hollingworth said the event’s popularity continues to grow, continuing to attract a loyal and appreciative following. It’s a real community effort with everything donated bar the champagne, which is sourced at mates’ rates.
The Deepwater Sewing Group has donated a quilt to be raffled, and Mrs Hollingworth hopes people will be generous in their ticket-buying. The organisers would love to breach the $2000 fundraising mark, to go towards stage two of the project to heat the hall.
She said the spring and summer fashions on show will reflect return to romantic florals along with flounces and even babydoll smocks, alongside black-and-white and navy classics. There will be some familiar faces on the catwalk (Mrs Hollingworth excluded).
Attendees can be assured of a warm Deepwater welcome, and a delicious high tea which promises to be generous and decadent.
The cost is still only $10 (hasn’t gone up since the event’s inception), and children are welcome. Pay at the door but bookings are essential for catering purposes. RSVP to Jen (6734 5217), Jude (6734 5231) or Mary (6732 4597).
