Acting chief executive officer Kylie Smith said the success involved council’s commitment to being recognised as an employer of choice who invests in its staff in order to retain and grow the team and, when required, attract other high performers.
“Council recognises the stresses and difficulties that come with working in a highly visible, high profile community organisation and applied for funding to conduct health and wellbeing training for all council staff,” Ms Smith said.
“The training by Black Dog will cover areas such as managing negative stress levels, depression, relationships, managing the work/life balance and personal health.”
Mayor Peter Petty said the health and wellbeing training will provide great benefits not only for council’s staff, who form a large component of the community, but also their families and friends.
