Two sheep producers from the local region who attend the whole WormBoss Workshop on Wednesday, November 1 near Deepwater and RSVP by October 27 will take home a pack of drench, each valued at about $500.
“But all attendees will be winners,” said Deb Maxwell, ParaBoss Operations Manager, “As the management information presented can lead to less drenching, less deaths and productions loss from worms and a reduced overall cost of worms.
“Producers who follow the WormBoss program indicate they are more confident that they have worms under control,” said Dr Maxwell.
WormBoss is an integrated program that does not rely solely on drenching. The workshop outlines everything needed for cost-effective worm control in this region.
Dr Maxwell said ”Low worm-risk paddocks can make a massive positive impact on worm control, but most producers don’t know the nitty-gritty of what to do and when.
“We’ve found that the extent of drench-resistance also comes as a surprise to many producers, so presentations include how to use practices that help producers to slow the development of drench-resistance on their properties.
“We also cover breeding for worm-resistance, worms and liver fluke, worm testing, choosing and using drenches and the Barbervax vaccine.
“A feature at this workshop will be presentations about the two new combination drench products: Zolvix Plus and Tridectin—the two drench giveaways—and how they best fit into a control program,” Dr Maxwell said.
To RSVP (and be eligible for the drench draws) contact Deb Maxwell by Friday, October 27 at deb@paraboss.com.au or 0437 524 163.
