Deputy Prime Minister and Member for New England, Barnaby Joyce, encouraged groups, individuals and organisations to apply for a share of the Armistice Centenary Grants Program.
“This is $50,000 for use in our communities across the New England to mark what will be a historic occasion,” Mr Joyce said.
“I would like to hear of any project ideas that are currently being considered to commemorate the end of the First World War in the local community.
“Grant funding from $3000 may be available to organisations such as yours for eligible projects.”
Australia paid a heavy price for its involvement in the First World War in terms of lives lost. More than 60,000 were killed and 156,000 wounded, gassed, or taken prisoner.
