The 1940 Australian war film directed by Charles Chauvel tells the story of the Australian Light Horse, following the adventures of three rowdy heroes in fighting and romance and culminating at the famous battle.
The final phase of the all-day battle was the mounted charge of the 4th Light Horse Brigade, storming through Turkish defences and seizing the strategic town of Beersheba. This enabled British Empire forces to break the Ottoman line near Gaza on November 7 and advance into Palestine.
The cost of the film evening is $20 which includes supper from 5pm catered by Courtyard Cafe, followed by the screening at 6pm.
