He’s touted as the million-dollar man for his fundraising efforts over the past decade, pushing Myrna the mower around the countryside. He reckons the current tally is $1,015,000, hoping it would be $1,016,000 by day’s end.
After an overnight stay in Tenterfield he was off to Texas the next morning. While he has walked from town to town in past endeavours, this tour he’s driving between them as he’s keen to be home for Christmas.
Claude said his awareness efforts were inspired by an incident involving two little girls – aged three and four – very close to his heart that were molested as they played in their backyard by a 16-year-old boy who scaled a six-foot fence to get to them.
“Because he was 16 all he got was a slap on the wrist, and I didn’t agree with that,” Claude said.
And the mower? Claude said he was struck by inspiration while mowing the lawn, and it’s a ploy that’s gained worldwide attention for him and for Bravehearts.
