The tables and chairs were cleared from the Tele’s dining room, the obligatory circle drawn on the carpet and ringmaster John Munro in his element as bets were matched for heads and tails, evens and odds.
It was a healthy, jovial crowd who got into the spirit of the game improvised by Australia soldiers so many years ago, although some of the modern-day counterparts may have gone home a little poorer.
Catch some of the action in the clip below as Mr Munro gathers the troops for another flip of the coins. Perhaps not quite as it was in the trenches, but a happy ode to conclude a wonderful ANZAC Day in Tenterfield.
