Steve Samuelson writes: The Kings have gifted this match to the Sharks by resting 12 players in preparation for their South African conference relegation clash against the Lions. The Sharks will be missing playmakers Pat Lambie (injured) and Butch James (suspended) but welcome back JP Pietersen and Meyer Bosman.

AAP writes: Both sides still have plenty to play for in this South African derby. The last-placed Kings will be out to avoid the wooden spoon in their first season, while the 10th-placed Sharks will want to make sure they don’t become the new kid on the block’s first South African Super Rugby scalp. Having said that, the Kings have made a whopping 12 starting changes to prepare for their promotion-relegation matches against the Johannesburg-based Lions later this month. The Sharks missed a very kickable penalty goal on the siren to beat the table-topping Bulls last weekend and should bounce back to get the job done at home this week.
