On Saturday night the Tenterfield Fire and Rescue team celebrated at Kraze Maze with Marc Kelly and Jo Goodwin both being recognised for their service.
The team also paid tribute to Chris Coker who received a medal for 30-years of service.
“You’re never in the job for the recognition,” Mr Coker said.
“My father was in it for many, many years. Dad used to be a character in days gone by.
“For me this was a natural thing to do in the community,” he said.
While he’s clocked up 30-years Chris says he has no plans to call time on his service just yet.
“It’s never easy getting up at 3 in the morning some days but as long as I’m up for it and the body is (I’ll do it).
“If I’d been younger again I might have gone to full-time as we’ve had a wonderful time at times but sometimes you think why am I doing this.
“The years roll by before you even know it,” he said.
Fire captain John Gray said Michael Aquilini was also recognised for his 10 years of service.
“It was a reasonably big night – we had a good time.”
Zone Commander Stephen Hirst and Zone Inspector Rod Chetwynd were also in attendance to congratulate the crew members.
Hillier Bro’s also received a certificate of appreciation for their ongoing support of the Tenterfield Fire and Rescue.
Mr Gray said away from all the glitz that they had experienced a fairly quiet period.
“We had three call outs on Saturday – one for a grassfire. It’s been quiet and the snow hasn’t really affected us,” he said.
