Brigalow Limousins is operated by Dean and Charmaine Kesby, based at Winton. The stud was established in 1988 and included a good dose of bloodlines from the Kinchela Stud, which belonged to Dean’s parents. The Kesby’s run about 250 stud cows. “They need to perform with no special treatment, as we aim to produce practical, commercially successful cattle, that are easy to calve and handle,” he said.

Mr Kesby said they focused on breeding early to mid maturing bulls suitable for producing animals with excellent muscling and finishing ability that suit most markets and increase yield in crossbred herds naturally.
“Brigalow will continue to have the commercial cattleman in mind with an increasing emphasis on moving towards polled cattle while keeping our high yielding carcass attributes and quiet temperament,” he said.
The stud’s annual on-farm helmsman sale will be held at 1pm Wednesday, August 16, with 35 bulls on offer.
