After a number of ‘friendlies’ against Stanthorpe, Glen Innes and Warwick teams to build up match experience, Tenterfield Junior Soccer teams had an official run in the Stanthorpe Mini Roos carnival on Sunday, June 18.

Club president Candice Potter said the club fielded two teams in the Under 6s and Under 7s, and a team in each of the U8, U9 and a combined U10/11 years.

“They all played so well,” she said. “They did an amazing job. All the training paid off.”
Mrs Potter said the Stanthorpe Soccer Federation has been very supportive in arranging the friendly matches, with Tenterfield playing the federation’s Ballandean, United and City sides and hosting Carlton on August 5.
“It helps a lot with their confidence,” Mrs Potter said.
The Saturday morning comp continues in Tenterfield with around 80 junior footballers taking part. While the season wraps up on September 9, Mrs Potter said there’s always room for new players who wish to join mid-season.
