On Sunday,June 25 three of our Junior Tenterfield Tigers weighed in for the Annual Under 10's Zone 5 Under 35kg Carnival hosted by Central Downs area in Clifton Qld.
Oska Zappa, Bryce Riley and Jake Murphy were selected in trials three months earlier to represent the McIntyre Region at this annual week long carnival.
They played with kids from areas such as Millmeran, Pittsworth, Texas, Inglewood and Goondiwindi to make up the McIntyre representative team.
All the boys played exceptionally well and throughout the week gained more valuable experience and continued to develop as a team.
The McIntyre team ended up fourth on the ladder at the end of the week after some tough and close scoring games. Wynnum (Brisbane area) were the winners for 2017.
Oska Zappa from Tenterfield was the only local boy selected to play for the East v's West clash at the end of the week, alongside two other McIntyre players Fergus Elbourne (Millmeran) and Declan Wren (Goondiwindi).
These boys played for the Easts side of the clash and came away winners in this game with a final score of 18 - 6.
They all played a hard, fast game of footy. It was a great experience for them all.
As a highlight, presentations of medals were made to the boys for their selection in the East v's West by Shane Webke, ex-Queensland State of Origin player.
The week was a great week for the boys who have made many friends from several other areas as far as Charleville, Balone Barwon, South Burnett, Roma, Central Downs, Cunnamulla, Western Downs and Wynnum.
Thank you to the continued support of our amazing Junior Tenterfield Tigers Rugby League committee, giving these kids some wonderful opportunities. Without our junior club’s support, it would not be possible.
