Earlier this year, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse Squad recommenced an investigation into the alleged historical indecent assault of two young girls by a man known to them.
The incidents were reported to police in 2012, but withdrawn before the investigation was finalised.
During the new investigation, investigators say a third young girl was identified as allegedly being indecently assaulted.
The investigation led to the arrest of a 52-year-old man in late June.
He was charged with three counts of aggravated indecent assault, victim under authority; three counts of aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault where victim under the age of 10 years, indecent assault where victim under the age of 16 years, and commit act of indecency with victim under 10 years.
Police will allege the man indecently assaulted the girls on numerous occasions between 2002 and 2012.
The man was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear at Inverell Local Court on Thursday.
