A Glen Innes group has raised more than $4,000 for families who are having a hard time after the death of a former serviceman or woman.

The local branch of the Christian charity, Torchbearers, held a raffle and sold “badges” to raise funds for Legacy, the group which helps military families suffering after bereavement. It currently cares for 65,000 widows and widowers and 1,800 children and disabled dependents in Australia.
The Glen Innes Services Club bought a “badge” for $1,000. The winner of the $500 raffle prize was G. Kerr. The second prize (a photograph donated by renowned photographer, Robyn Hepburn) was won by K. Sturtridge.
