The systems were down from about 5.20am Monday, with flights to and from Sydney airport delayed or cancelled.
The delay means Guyra resident Julie Mills is probably going to miss her connecting flight to London.
“The next flight is at 1:45pm but it’s fully booked and they’re getting a bus to take people to Tamworth to try and get a flight,” she said.
“The same thing happened to me five years ago, there was a delay, so this time I made sure I had heaps of time between the two flights.”
Inverell resident Robin Warwick has been waiting in Armidale for her flight to Sydney since 8:30am.
Luckily, she didn’t have a connecting flight.
“I was going to connect at the pub but I’ll just be a couple of hours later,” she joked.
Jo Mcphee’s flight to Sydney has also been delayed but she said the staff have been extremely helpful.
“My flight has been delayed two hours,” she said.
“I’m just grateful I have a book that I like, iPad and a cup of coffee and it’s not stressful.”
Airline staff said only 15 planes could land per hour in Sydney.
Under normal circumstances, a maximum of 80 aircraft arrivals and departures per operational hour is allowed.
