You can take the guy out of the Bachelor mansion, but you can't take the Bachelor mansion out of the guy. Or something.
Either way, Matty J says he, like the rest of Australia, is obsessed with Sophie Monk's turn on The Bachelorette.
"I love this season - Sophie Monk is killing it, I think she's hilarious," he says.
"We had a quick phone call at the Logies, just before it was announced... She's a seasoned professional in this industry, but it was nice to offer a few words of wisdom.
"I kind of just told her it's going to be amazing, have fun and be yourself. Even though it's a serious show and you want to find love and there's a lot you'll dislike like the rose ceremonies, you want to have fun with it and just enjoy it as much as you can.
"Which by the looks of it is exactly what's she doing," he says.
Just weeks after his relationship status changed in front of the nation's TV watching eyes, Matty is back at his marketing day-gig and entrenched in the daily nitty gritty with new partner Laura Byrne.
"She was helping change nappies the other day, doing all these unglamorous things," he says. (Relax, it's not theirs - Matty's sister gave birth to a daughter on Monday).
"Gone are the days of super yachts and helicopters... That's been replaced by dirty nappies and taking out the garbage," he says. Not that he's complaining.
"It's nice to have all the attention on Sophie [Monk], so Laura and I can just kind of get on with normal life."
Well, normal to an extent.
Matty is part of an odd new exhibition at Sydney's wax museum, Madame Tussaud's - an augmented reality experience where fans can get their photo taken snuggling alongside the former Bachelor.
Yes, you can grab a virtual kiss too, if that's your thing.
"They actually approached me on Linked In," he laughs about the project's genesis. "At first I thought it was a crazed fan putting some bait out there for me to call them.
"But it's quite cool. We had the green-screen technology in action, and I had to run through these poses - I do these heart signs, peace signs, you can get a kiss on the cheek..."
After watching him make out endlessly on TV for a few months, the exhibit understandably prompted some explanation to Laura.
"She was like, 'I've just shared you with 20 other women on TV, now I've got to share you with half the city?'
"I was like, 'Yes, but it's only the digital version!'"
For those hoping to see Matty reprise his Bachelor streak on Ten's newly announced spin-off Bachelor In Paradise, it's unlikely.
"Uh no," he laughs. "I'm very happy with Laura so I think my time on reality TV has officially come to an end."
Matty J's AR experience is now open at Madame Tussaud's, Darling Harbour.
