The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission announced the recall on its website and said the issue of concern was that power relays may generate excessive heat.
“As a result, the engine may stall during driving, fail to restart or failsafe protection may be activated, with a loss of engine power,’’ the notice said.
Some models of Lancers, ASXs and Outlanders are affected.
Mitsubishi Motors Australia will contact all known owners affected by mail and advise them to present their vehicle to their preferred dealer when the parts become available.
The vehicles were sold between December, 28, 2014 and February 6, 2017.
Customers requiring more information can contact Mitsubishi Motors Australia on 1300 1312 11 or contact their preferred Dealer.
