Looking for some clarification of the Land Management and Biodiversity Conservation Act and opportunities for your property? Local Land Services (LLS) is hosting an information session at the Tenterfield Golf Club on November 16 from 9am to noon, and has a new team ready to help land owners navigate the act’s requirements.
LLS Sustainable Land Management group director Kristian Holz said the NSW Government has funded LLS to get extra resources and staff to deliver this new service and make it as simple as possible for landholders.
“Our staff are ready to work with landholders across the region,” he said.
“We want to make it easier for landholders. We can work with you to help determine how the system can support your farm plan and business needs.”
LSS is striving to deliver a three-pronged approach to help landowners:
- Providing certainty and long term planning solutions that deliver balanced growth and value environmental assets
- Supporting landowners with advice, new tools and products to make the right choice for their farm system
- Creating more land use options through flexible codes and payments for private land conservation.
The newly-created Sustainable Land Management (SLM) team at LLS is available to help landholders with the new system, providing tailored advice on applying the new land management code of practice, accessing incentives for protecting native vegetation and, where required, navigating approvals for clearing or development.
Mr Holz said LLS was here to help landholders discover the opportunities available to them.
“Boots on the ground will ensure farmers know their options and are supported in making good short-, medium- and long-term choices for their business,” he said.
“The new framework will provide a better system than what was available. It will increase flexibility for farmers and will provide better environmental outcomes across NSW.”
