Let’s pause to remember

As we close in on a century since the ceasefire of WWI, the Tenterfield RSL Sub branch will again be hosting a Remembrance Day commemoration on Saturday, November 11.

The program starts at 10.30am in front of Tenterfield Memorial Hall, with local high school students participating and a special reading of the self-penned poem War Graves On Tarakan by Tom Houlihan.

Deputy mayor Don Forbes will deliver the 2017 Remembrance Day address, followed by the laying a wreaths and poppies at the soldier’s memorial.

Drew Bates will lead in the singing of the National Anthem before the program concludes just after 11am. Morning tea will then be served in the RSL Pavilion at the rear of Memorial Hall.

This year there will be a special presentation to the Tenterfield RSL Sub branch of memorabilia and artefacts belonging to WW1 casualty George Thomas Rivers by his descendants.
