Big numbers to wrap up Zone 13's northern interclubs

A huge turnout for the final competitions in the northern Zone 13 interclubs meant stakes were high.

Tenterfield Pony Club finished runners-up in the prestigious Willcocks Shield, a competition between Zone 13’s northern clubs.

Around 90 competitors turned out for the Tenterfield interclub on Saturday and backed it up for Emmaville's event on Sunday.

For the four northern clubs - Tenterfield, Emmaville, Inverell and Glen Innes - it was the final chance to put points on the board to claim the Shield.

Each club has hosted an interclub competition this year and at the end of the four rounds, points were tallied to find out the most dominant club of the season.

Inverell finished first overall with 2414 points, followed by Tenterfield on 2089, third was Glen Innes with 2024 and the smallest club in Emmaville were fourth with 1151.

I was very happy with all the riders that attended the weekend and with the jumping, I only had four riders that didn't jump.

“Inverell were the winners of the aggregate pointscore for the northern end of the zone,” Emmaville secretary Tess Klingner said.

“It all ran quite well, no problems for the weekend.”

Emmaville rider Chloe Klingner's performances from the four interclub events added up to a reserve champion finish in the aggregate pointscore.
