Helen Petrie was part of the support crew for husband Bruce and son Scott on the three-day ride from Tabulam to Copmanhurst, to commemorate the centenary of the Battle of Beersheba and the role played by Light Horse battalions.
Around 130 riders and a handful of horse-and-carriages departed Tabulam, home of the Light Horse, to make their way over the old Tabulam Bridge which was closed to traffic for the historical occasion. They spent their first night enjoying the hospitality of the Myer family at Yulgilbar, before riding to Baryulgil for the next camp.
The ride concluded at Copmanhurst where a memorial service was held the following morning. Riders came from as far as the Northern Territory, the Central Coast and Tamworth to participate.
Mrs Petrie documented the ride in this gallery of photos. Please enjoy.
