The last new car dealership in Glen Innes closes on Friday when Holden pulls out. A part of history will close with it. Let’s drive down Memory Lane.

End of the road for Holden in Glen Innes. Cars have been sold here on the corner of Grey and Wentworth streets for at least half a century.

The Holden premises on Grey Street but as Mackenzie Motors (from a special supplement to the Glen Innes Examiner in 1963, celebrating Mackenzie's centenary).

Who needs a Holden when you can canoe down Grey Street? Bill Rendell said: "We later bought that canoe. I think it is one of the mechanics paddling the canoe."

A Christmas promotion. When it was part of the Mackenzie enterprise which also owned the store on Grey Street, there was often cross promotion - one would direct trade to the other.

Bill Rendell said: "Holden ute dressed for the show with Frigidaire banner and fridge on back of ute which would be advertising for fridges available in the main Mackenzies general store (Fred Knight on right)".
