It often pours but this year’s toy run went off in ideal weather, with the bikers taking a circular route from The Si Henry Parkes Memorial Public School up to Stanthorpe and back through Ballandean and Jennings, collecting donations along the way.

Organiser Wayne Lusty said around 30 bikes participated this year in perfect conditions, and again the patrons of the Jennings Hotel were generous with their donations. The barbecue at the school at the conclusion of the run was enjoyed by all, as always.
There was a not so strong response from the Tenterfield community with half-a-dozen people contributing to the stash of gifts to be distributed to those in need, although Mr Lusty said he appreciates it’s tough time of year for many.
He encouraged anyone with a donation that could brighten up someone’s Christmas morning to take it along to the Salvation Army shop in Crown St by December 18, and say it’s for the toy run.
Mr Lusty said this will be the last run he organises as he’s not physically up to it anymore, but he’s happy to assist in the future.
