Memorial Hall was buzzing in Tenterfield on Wednesday, November 29 as early voting facilities open for the weekend’s New England by-election to see if ousted MP Barnaby Joyce will be returned.

With 17 candidates in the running and each square on the ballot paper needing a number, their order may have a marked impact on results.

While none of the candidates were to be seen, party faithful for several groups volunteered their time to assist voters with the order of their preferences.

Early voting is available at the hall each day from 8.30 am to 6pm (5.30pm on Thursday) up to Friday.

The hall is open again on polling day – Saturday, December 2 – from 8am until 6pm sharp.
