The main lounge and dining hall where decked out in Scotland’s colours of blue and white with decorations made by residents. There was also a display of tartans, with memorabilia from Tenterfield Pipe Band and Scottish souvenirs loaned by Rosemary Boyle, Max and Barbara Taylor, Audley and Helen Smith and Christine Wells.
Max and Audley were members of Tenterfield’s Pipe Band in the days when Tenterfield hosted the biggest Caledonian Festival in Australia.
Glen Innes Pipe Band musicians Robert O’Brian (on pipes) and Travis O’Brian (pipes plus highland dancing), along with Graham Foan from Tenterfield (drums) provided top entertainment, as the sounds of bagpipes resounded at Haddington.
The Haggis was marched in style, stabbed in a ‘traditional address’, and great fun was had by all.
