Spare a thought for the workers who can’t seek shade or go for a dip as Australia stakes its claim as the hottest country in the world this week, with our spot on the Tablelands copping its share of the heat blast.
The official reading for New Year’s Day was 30.0, followed by some reprieve with maximums in the mid-20s before the heat returned on Sunday with an official max of 32.0. A predicted run of 33.0 days followed that.
It’s supposed to stay in the 30s for the remainder of the week, accompanied by the possibility of storms and showers, before dropping back to more reasonable maximums next week.
