Bob Rogan said the site has a long history of acting as illegal tip, and many working bee hours were invested in cleaning up rubbish when the club first took control of the block.
He finds it disheartening to have to continue cleaning out rubbish, after all the effort that’s been put into setting up welcoming facilities.
Dead foliage on the block attracted him to investigate last week, to discover chainsawed timber from a gum tree, possibly damaged in a recent storm. Dumped deadwood is an ongoing problem for club members, who would prefer to invest their time in building up the facilities rather than dealing with other people’s rubbish.
“People may need to be reminded that the block is no longer vacant land,” Mr Rogan said.
“It’s now leased, managed and has surveillance cameras.”
