Tenterfield tourism organisations have an opportunity to further lift their profile with nomination for the Country and Outback Regional Tourism Awards now open.
The regional tourism Awards are held annually to acknowledge excellence in tourism across the state.
“Since the inception, the awards have been credited for elevating many regional tourism businesses to achieve statewide and national acclaim,” awards chair Jane Barnes said.
“One of the main focus points of the awards is to develop quality regional tourism products and provide businesses the opportunity to benchmark their business with similar businesses in activity and size and also have the opportunity to identify their own personal and professional development within the tourism industry.”
Entrants are made up of tourism businesses, events, marketing organisations, clubs and individuals all aiming for excellence in their industry. Winners of the Regional Tourism Awards gain finalist status upon entering the NSW State Tourism Awards, and if successful, go onto the National Tourism Awards.
The award presentations will be held in Orange on Saturday, July 28 amid a busy weekend of activities for visiting entrants.
Rhonda Taylor, general manager of Destination Country and Outback, is encouraging all regional operators to consider entering the awards this year.
“The Regional Tourism Awards is an opportunity for the industry to come together and celebrate business excellence across our sector,” she said.
“The awards provide a wonderful professional development opportunity for operators in addition to publicity for all finalists. We look forward to Orange hosting this year’s awards and celebrating the achievements of the many businesses, both large and small, as they take their first steps on the way to possible state and national recognition.”
Nominations close on Friday, May 25 at https://regionaltourismawards.com.au/entrants. Award categories cover a cross-section of the industry including attractions, festivals and events, tour operators, restaurants, accomodation, food tourism and best digital presence. There’s also a special award for outstanding contribution to tourism by an individual.
There haven’t been any past awardees from this district, so it may be time to start a trend.
