It’s hard to believe but school holidays are fast approaching and Tenterfield Shire Council is lining up activities to celebrate Youth Week in the first week of the break.
Artistically-inclined youth can start now by entering the design competition to celebrate this year’s theme: Unity Through Diversity. Everyone between the ages of 12 and 24 is invited to draw, paint or digitally create a design. The winning entry will be printed on the NSW Youth Week t-shirt.
You can enter at youthweek.nsw.gov.au and entries close March 28.
On the local front, council is matching funding from NSW Youth Week to host a variety of activities between April 16 and 22 with more information to come as the program firms up.
Fish on Monday
On Monday, April 16 there’s another free fishing workshop at Tenterfield Dam, following on from last year’s successful workshop. Kids aged 12-18 years can come along and learn to fish safely and responsibly.
Instructors are experienced volunteers and staff from Industry & Investment NSW, and participants received a quality rod and reel combination, shirt, hat, tackle box and show bag to take home.
During the 9am to 1pm workshop they will learn fishing techniques, bag and size limits, and fish handling for catch and release.
Only a few spaces remain so bookings are essential. Contact Michael Davey on 0412 241 934 or michaeldavey@outlook.com.
