Fifteen students and their families from the Sir Henry Parkes Memorial Public School travelled to Armidale on March 5 to compete in the NSW Primary Schools regional swimming carnival.
The students contested most events and put together a number of relay teams. All students swam hard on the day.
Students who came first or second in their respective races in Armidale are then invited to join the North West team, which will compete at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre on April 11/12.
Year 3 student Zoe finished second in the eight year girls’ freestyle. This place has cemented her a position in the North West team. Zoe said she loves swimming and her coach Gail teaches her how to correct her strokes, so that she can swim faster.
The school runs NSW Department of Education Swimming Scheme sessions for its students in Term 4 of each year.
