A 47-year-old woman has been sentenced to 12 months imprisonment – with a three-months non parole period – following an incident at Tenterfield Hospital.
The woman assaulted and threatened two staff members at the hospital after she presented there for help. In sentencing the magistrate stated that hospital staff have an important position and are there to help people. They should not be subject to these types of situations and that these type of incidents cannot be tolerated.
He wanted the community to be aware that the staff would be protected and that the community needs to be aware of this.
In other police news, a 51-year-old man was found to be driving without a licence in Rouse Street on Thursday night (April 12). He has been given a court attendance notice to attend Tenterfield Local Court on May 17.
Following a routine vehicle stop in Wherat Lane a 56-year-old male was detected with an amount of cannabis. He was given a court attendance notice for April 26.
