Scott Jason Bultitude appeared in an out-of-sessions bail hearing in Inverell Local Court at the weekend where he was released on four charges.
He was granted conditional bail to report to police three times-a-week, live in Ashford and not to enter Wellingrove or go within 30km of the area.
Police allege he threatened an 18-year-old camper early on the morning of April 22.

The camper told officers he was camping on a property on Strathbogie Road at Wellingrove when he heard shots fired.
Police allege Bultitude, 47, shot a deer before a confrontation with the camper, and then left the scene.
Bultitude was arrested on Friday when police raided a property on Emmaville Road and seized firearms.
During the brief court proceedings, he was not required to enter pleas to the charges of firing a firearm into a building or inclosed lands, common assault, holder of a category A or B not have approved storage and entering inclosed lands possessing a firearm or a prohibited weapon.
Bultitude will front court again later in May.
