After more than 30 years as the driving force beyond the community entity that established Millrace and Haddington, Col Mann has stepped down from his position as chair of Tenterfield Care Committee (TCC).
The move coincides with his retirement from his engineering business.
Mr Mann remains on the TCC board, and incoming chair Greg Sauer said the board members will no doubt be calling on his expertise and experience.
Bob South has also opted not to continue as treasurer, with the post now being filled by local accountant Allan Donges. Beth Moore and Rhonda Rovera are continuing their roles as secretary and deputy chair respectively.
Since the organisation’s AGM Mr Sauer said board members had undertaken two days of governance training, to better-equip them for the challenging task of navigating the requirements of the aged care industry.
“It was very informative,” he said.
“The nature of aged care is changing so much. The training helped us to ensure we’re complying as a board, to better serve the community.
“We don’t want to inadvertently breech the regulations.”
Mr Sauer said it’s not only a matter of keeping up with the regulations, but also identifying and making the most of opportunities to improve operations.
To that end, four subcommittees have been formed so that issues can be dealt with efficiently. They are:
- Finance & Auditing
- Governance & Ethics
- Strategic Planning and Projects
- Marketing & Fundraising
TCC was host a function later this year that will act not only as fundraiser but as a fitting acknowledgement of Mr Mann’s enormous contribution to TCC and to the Tenterfield community as a whole. Details are yet to be released.
